How I look after your information
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of counselling. This page explains, in plain terms, what information I hold, why, and how it is kept safe.
Who I am
This website is run by Gabbie Cailes, trading as Gabbie Cailes Counselling. I am responsible for any personal information you share with me. You can contact me about anything on this page atgabbiecailes7@gmail.com or on07495 509310.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking, and it does not contain any forms. Visiting it does not collect any information about you. The site is hosted by Netlify, whose servers may keep standard, short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) in order to deliver the pages securely.
When you get in touch
If you email or call me, I will hold the contact details you give me (for example your name, email address or phone number) and the content of your message, so that I can reply and, if you wish, arrange an initial meeting. I will not add you to any mailing list or share your details with anyone else for marketing.
If we work together
What is spoken about in sessions is safe, private and confidential. We will discuss what confidentiality means when we meet, including the limited circumstances in which I may need to share information (for example where there is a serious risk of harm), as set out in theBACP Ethical Framework.
I take some brief notes for my own process to support our work together. These are private, although you have the right to see them, and they are password protected.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I attend regular supervision. Supervision is itself confidential.
How long I keep information
I keep your information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above and to meet the requirements of my professional body. Enquiries that do not lead to counselling are deleted once they are no longer needed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what information I hold about you, to see it, to have inaccuracies corrected and, in some circumstances, to have it deleted. To make a request, simply contact me using the details above. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
